GEOTECH RECEIVED AEO CERTIFICATE
Geotech received the AEO certificate from the Dutch custom authorities on Monday 19th December last. As an holder of an AEO certificate companies are subjected to less physical inspection and document checks. Furthermore Geotech now receives priority treatment of consignments if they are selected for controls.
The European Commission is working with various countries such as the US and China to reach an agreement on mutual recognition of security certificates. Once that mutual recognition becomes effective, those countries will inspect shipments of AEO-certified businesses less frequently. A mutual recognition agreement is already in place with Japan. The Ministry of Finance recently decided to reduce the guarantees for enterprises with an AEO certificate. This will make the AEO status, also given the present economic circumstances, more attractive to the Dutch business sector.
