Geotech International B.V. is a dynamic company focusing on the development, production and distribution of pearlescent pigments, aluminium pigments, glitter flakes, mica and carbon black (D&C Black 2).
The owners family has a background in the distribution of special effect pigments with over 50 years of experience. Mr. Theo Polman started offering natural pearlescent pigments made out of fish scales in the late 70’s. In the beginning of the 80’s Mr. Coert Polman founded a European branch office for the American company Mearl, a producer of pearlescent pigments, later acquired by Engelhard and after that by BASF. In order to respond to the rapidly growing demand for glittering effects he started a new company, GEOTECH, in 1984. Troughout the 80’s GEOTECH became a well-known supplier for glitter flakes being the first company who introduced glitter into the cosmetic industry.
Since 1999 the company is managed by the third generation who relocated the company in 2000 and opened a fully equipped laboratory for quality control, technical service and product development.
In 2014 SGS certified GEOTECH’s Quality Management System (QMS) based on the ISO 9001 and 22716 (GMP) standard. During the same year GEOTECH also became an official approved supplier of the Estée Lauder Companies. GEOTECH’s QMS is built to create a process of continuous improvement. The main target for the system is to become a long term preferred supplier for special effect pigments for their customers. To achieve this target, GEOTECH has to be the commercial, innovative and qualitative number one for their customers, in addition to which GEOTECH strives to zero defects. GEOTECH's quality policy is available upon request.
In 2016 GEOTECH acquired Paillettes et Pigments Sarl (PEP), a French distributor of special effect pigments. After the integration the PEP office remained open as a sales office for the French market.
Due to the significant growth of GEOTECH, the need for a larger facility became urgent. In 2017 a larger premises was purchased. A coincidental fact to know was that the acquired location previously belonged to Engelhard. After the acquisition by BASF the Engelhard premises was shut down and transferred to Ludwigshafen in Germany.
The 2.700 m2 facility was completely renovated in order to comply to GEOTECH's strong standards. Last April GEOTECH successfully moved into its new facility at the Emrikweg in Haarlem, the Netherlands. The total surface area has been extended more than twice in comparison to its previous premises and the storage capacity has been extended with 200 mt. Thanks to the new facility GEOTECH is able to extent the level of service, upscaling current USP’s such as formulating support and offering more room for in house technical presentations and support by well-educated chemists.
Now a days GEOTECH’s special effect pigments are being used globally in the cosmetic, plastic and coating industry with a sales volume extending 300 mt per year. Product development, colour trend forecasting and support in formulating create high added value for GEOTECH customers and partners every day.
