Geotechnical talk: Particle Size Distribution
GEOTECH’s portfolio consists of products with various particle sizes and by that different effects can be obtained. Descriptions like “Silk”, “Bright”, “Sparkling” or “Glittering” and others are used, focusing on particle size distributions in different ranges (examples: 1-15 µm, 10-60 µm, 20-150 µm etc).
In our quality control proceedings we have the option to determine the particle size distribution (or PSD) of our products, using the Malvern 3000.
Sustainable Special Effect Pigments
Environmentally friendly ingredients are becoming more popular as the cosmetics industry develops and microplastic regulations come into effect. The majority of cosmetic products contain glitter, which is traditionally produced from PET (polyethylene terephthalate), a "microplastic", concerning a lot of consumers about the impact glitter has on the environment.
We are committed to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (UN) and make every effort to reduce and minimize the environmental impact of our special effect pigments. To achieve this, we focus on offering sustainable alternatives for traditional polyester-based glitter particles.

Distributor award 2021
Our partner PORO, headquartered in Salzburg, Austria, is the winner of the GEOTECH Distributor Award 2021. The cooperation goes back to 2007 when Gerhard Schreier and Harold van Haren turned the existing cooperation into a formal partnership.
‘As a medium sized company with sales in 80 countries all over the world our distributors are of critical importance and have a crucial position in our sales strategy. Without partners like PORO we would not be able to keep our current position in the market. In 2021 PORO showed the largest increase in sales of all distributors. They well deserve the 2021 award because of this great result and our long term, fruitful and pleasant relationship’, says Harold van Haren, Managing Director of GEOTECH.
Traditionally the winner receives a Delftware plate with inscription.

However due to COVID-19 we had to announce the winner during an online distributor conference. We are happy to understand that the plate arrived in Sweden in one piece and hope to meet the successful team of IMCD in person soon again for a toast.
The impact of COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic caused a complete change in the beauty industry. Currently the crisis is unfolding and the uncertainty of what is to come makes it a major challenge for research and development departments.
Innovative formulation guidelines
During the pandemic it is not possible to visit our customers like we normally do. Here at GEOTECH we miss the conversations with clients about new formulations and product introductions. Fortunately 41 years of experience in the industry gives us a good idea of what our customers are looking for these days.
The Cosmetic Marketing Group
The Cosmetic Marketing Group (CMG) is an initiative of various non-competing raw material suppliers who aim to improve the service level for cosmetic producers. The founding members are BRB, GEOTECH, Koster Keunen, Sigma Oil Seeds and Sisterna. The idea behind the cooperation is to share knowledge of each members’ products, the cosmetic market and to develop joint marketing activities. This way we aim to improve our service level to customers.
